It appears that entertainment show host Gloria Akpene MzGee may not be returning as host of Ghana’s most talked-about entertainment program, United Showbiz on UTV.
Information available to me suggests that MzGee is set to launch and host her own program, Just Being Us, on ABC News Television, a station based in Accra and operating on the Multi TV platform.
MzGee, who succeeded Nana Ama McBrown as host of United Showbiz, came under heavy criticism for her inability to communicate fluently in the Twi language, as she had moved from her comfort zone of English-speaking platforms to a more local, Twi-dominated show. She later traveled to the USA, where she gave birth in 2024, and has since not returned to the screens of UTV.
In her absence, musician Empress Gifty has been steering affairs as the stand-in host of United Showbiz. All indications now point to her being confirmed as the permanent face of the show.
It is worth noting that aside from this new move, MzGee also hosts the same Just Being Us program on Akwaaba Magic on DStv. The show provides a unique platform for celebrities to share their untold stories, experiences, and personal journeys in a more relaxed and intimate setting.
