Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited (ABC) has made a significant leap in Akan-language radio with the commencement of full programming of its latest addition AsaasePa 107.3 operating from Accra.

Launched June 14 last year, AsaasePa 107.3 has completed its test transmissions and received the required approvals to commence full programming.

Commencing full programming last Friday (14 September 2024), the station is poised to reshape the landscape of Akan-language broadcasting.

AsaasePa 107.3 is not just another station; it’s a strategic initiative aimed at delivering content that resonates deeply with the cultural and social values of its audience.

During its test phase, the station delivered fresh, dynamic content designed to meet the needs of its listeners. Now, with full programming taking off, AsaasePa 107.3 is set to offer a vibrant mix of music, sports, entertainment, lifestyle content, and current affairs.

“At Asaase Broadcasting Company, our mission is to constantly innovate and deliver content that genuinely resonates with our audience,” said Nenyi George Andah, CEO. “AsaasePa 107.3 exemplifies our commitment to high-quality, engaging content, particularly through our focus on Akan radio programming.”

“This focus is key because it celebrates and preserves our rich cultural heritage while making our content accessible and relevant to the heart of our community. By bringing fresh, Akan-language programming that reflects the heartbeat of Accra and beyond, we’re not just broadcasting; we’re fostering local pride, enhancing cultural connections, and driving impactful conversations with meaningful stories and insights” he further explained.

Positioning AsaasePa 107.3 in the market

Joining an expanding portfolio that includes Asaase Radio 99.5 FM in Accra, Asaase Radio 98.5 FM in Kumasi, and Asaase Radio 99.7 FM in Tamale, AsaasePa 107.3 distinguishes itself by catering specifically to the Akan-speaking community. The station’s ambitious vision is to rejuvenate Akan radio through a distinctive blend of music, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, and current affairs.

“We’ve become the new trailblazers in Akan radio,” said Nana Otu-Gyandoh, Head of Programs at Asaase Broadcasting Company Ltd. “While we might be a newer player in the field, we are rapidly setting new standards and pushing the boundaries of commercial Akan radio in Ghana. Our innovative approach is not just about catching up; it’s about leading the way and transforming the landscape of radio broadcasting.”

Programming at AsaasePa 107.3 is designed to resonate deeply with its audience. Music forms the backbone of the station, making up a significant section of its content, with a commitment to playing Black African music. This focus on culturally significant music aims to reconnect listeners with their roots while standing out in a market often dominated by Western music.

Listeners can also look forward to engaging talk shows, cutting-edge news coverage, and in-depth analysis of local and national issues. The station’s dedication to sports coverage, particularly football, further strengthens its connection with the Akan-speaking community.

“AsaasePa 107.3 is exactly what we’ve been waiting for – radio that not only entertains but also educates and connects us with our roots,” shared one enthusiastic listener.

Commercial opportunities and community engagement

On the commercial front, AsaasePa 107.3 is rolling out a special “dɔnkomi ɔrekodo” early bird on-air and online promotion, offering advertisers up to a 50% discount with terms and conditions. This initiative is designed to help brands connect with a large, highly engaged audience.

Dr. Ofosu Agyekum, the commercial head, highlighted the unique advantages of advertising with AsaasePa 107.3, saying, “Partnering with AsaasePa 107.3 allows brands to align with trusted, high-quality content, boosting their visibility and establishing themselves as leaders in their industry. Our station offers a powerful platform for advertisers to reach an engaged and loyal Akan-speaking audience.”

AsaasePa 107.3 is not just a radio station; it’s a vibrant community hub where cultural richness meets cutting-edge innovation. By committing to cultural authenticity and forward-thinking content, AsaasePa 107.3 is poised to become an essential touchpoint for the Akan-speaking community, offering advertisers unparalleled opportunities to connect with listeners in meaningful ways.
