The Municipal Chief Executive for the Akuapem South Municipality, Hon. Frank Aidoo has disclosed that the rehabilitation works on the Aburi market which is currently ongoing will be completed in no time.
The market, which has served the people of Aburi and it’s environs over the years was deteriorating and needed an urgent attention.
According to some market women who spoke to Afeema fm’s Igwe Gyan, the state of the market was devastating and undeserved to be called a market. They counted how the place gets flooded anytime it rains, the insecurity in the market coupled with old structured sheds.
The Akuapem South Municipal Assembly in 2022 began the rehabilitation of the market and work was steadily progressing .
Afeema News have been monitoring the progress of work and realized the project has been halted for some few weeks.
In an exclusive interview with the MCE, Hon Frank Aidoo, he explained that, the contractor was on break for some few weeks due to the lack of materials.
“The contractor will be back soon, he was on break due to the lack of materials but he have materials now and he is expected to complete the project before the rains starts”, he said.
Many people in the municipality has lauded the assembly for their timely intervention in ensuring the market is in a befitting status.
About Pokrom market which is also in the municipality, the MCE disclosed that, there were several defects on the project after completion and they (assembly) are taking upon themselves to rectify the defects and expand it to be a general market that will serve the whole municipality and beyond.
