King Lagazee, the award-winning radio personality and host of Yaad Settingz on Asaase 99.5 Accra has won big again at the 2022 Ghana DJ Awards show as the Best Reggae/Dancehall DJ.
King Lagazee has been in the media fraternity and the field of reggae dancehall and sound system culture for over two decades.
“This award means a lot to me because it proves that King Lagazee Di 7 Star General is working hard,” he told Asaase Entertainment. “I have been nominated eight times and I won six out of them from 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022.”
This honor, in his opinion, serves to demonstrate the value of the efforts made to develop the reggae/dancehall culture in Ghana.
“Seriously, reggae in this country is growing at a fast pace through the sound system culture fraternity where I represent. Now a lot of reggae artistes in Ghana know about dubplate and its importance.
“DJing is important to me because this is what I do for a living,” he said. “We transform the emotions of people into leisure and their leisure into pleasure through reggae music. And we are looking forward to starting touring the world.”

Acknowledgment to Asaase
Lagazee, however, expressed gratitude to the management and staff of Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited for their support.
“Big respect and thanks to Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko and Nana Otu Gyandoh for giving me the platform to prove my competence. I say God bless them. To the management and staff of Asaase 99.5 Accra, 98.5 Kumasi, 100.3 Cape Coast, and 99.7 Tamale, I say Asante Sana for the love and support.”
