Fresh information reaching my desk indicates that one of Ghana’s most popular and highly respected Akan news anchors, Kojo Dickson, has reportedly resigned from Angel FM 102.9 FM and Angel TV.
Kojo Dickson, who until his resignation served as General Manager of Angel FM and Angel TV, has been noticeably absent from the station’s flagship news bulletin for almost a month — a development that raised eyebrows among listeners, while management remained unusually tight-lipped.
Sources close to me suggest that all may not be well within the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), with reports pointing to what insiders describe as one of the toughest moments in the company’s recent history.
Kojo Dickson joined Angel from Peace 104.3 FM in what was described as a lucrative move after building an enviable and successful career at Peace FM..
His reported departure comes on the back of another controversial exit.
Just two months ago, popular Kumasi-based newscaster Afi Hemaa resigned from Angel FM 96.1 after publicly alleging that she had gone unpaid for more than ten months.
In another dramatic twist, reports indicate that sports journalist Bright Kankam Boadu and his entire sports crew are on the verge of leaving ABN to join New Obaapa FM 100.9 FM and Television — a move many believe further exposes the deepening cracks within the media giant.
Adding to the suspense are unconfirmed reports that Pure FM 95.7 at Patasi, Kumasi, another station under the ABN umbrella, has allegedly been sold.
While official confirmation remains elusive, these developments have sparked intense speculation across Ghana’s media landscape, with many asking the big question: What is really happening at ABN?
For now, management has yet to officially address the growing concerns. But one thing is certain — the silence is only making the mystery louder.
