Mark your calendars! On Thursday, May 1st, the much-anticipated unveiling of Ezra 94.1 FM’s Sports Crew will go down — and from what I am hearing, this is no ordinary team. Their official on-air takeover begins Monday, May 5th, and the buzz is real.
But the million-cedi question remains: Who are the faces behind this fresh sports revolution?
Here’s what I know so far…
The Host: Richard Akowuah a.k.a. Little King – “The Latest Intelligence”
He needs no introduction — a seasoned foreign sports news anchor, and formerly the vibrant host of Sompa Sports. Little King, as he’s affectionately called, is making a big move to Ezra where he’ll not only host the main sports show but also double as the foreign sports news anchor.
Once considered on par with the legendary King Eben, industry watchers say a few missteps in station transfers may have slowed his momentum. But make no mistake — Little King is back and ready to reclaim the crown.
His impressive journey includes stints at Precise FM, Gye Nyame FM, Otec FM, Oyerepa FM, and Adehye/Kumasi FM. This comeback could be the redemption arc his fans have been waiting for.
The Local News Guy: Darling Boy Piero
All signs point to Darling Boy Piero of Silver FM taking charge of local sports news. He brings flair, facts, and fierce dedication to the table. Sources say there were initial talks with Edmond Osafo Addo of Agyapa FM, but negotiations reportedly fell through. Now, it looks like Piero is the man for the job — and a solid pick at that.
The Analysts – A Triple Threat
Sir Obed Acheampong (Oyerepa FM, formerly Silver FM) Calm, insightful, and deeply knowledgeable — Sir Obed is widely regarded as one of the most respectable analysts in the Ashanti Region. A die-hard Asante Kotoko fan, he’s known to step up as a host when needed. Expect sharp analysis delivered with class.
James Nkansah “Principal” (Fox FM) This is confirmed. Principal, a Fox FM staple since 2018, has signed and sealed his deal with Ezra. His departure will undoubtedly leave a void at Fox. With prior experience at Friends FM, Bohye FM, and Mercury FM, his transition is being watched closely. This is a major coup for Ezra.
Benjamin Mensah “The Sports Crusader” After a low-key spell at Wontumi FM — where he was only featured on Sunday mornings — The Crusader is returning to Ezra, where he once thrived. With previous stops at AP Radio and Otec FM, he’s coming back with renewed energy and a point to prove. His fans are thrilled to see him back on a more dynamic platform.
So, How Do You Rate Ezra’s New Sports Dream Team?
