The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has revealed that Ghana’s 30th anniversary of uninterrupted democracy will be launched on February 22, 2023, in the Parliamentary chamber. In a statement addressing the House, Speaker Bagbin hailed Ghanaians for their enduring commitment to democracy.

He emphasized the importance of the anniversary as a testament to the nation’s progress and stability over the past three decades.

“The anniversary marks three decades of uninterrupted democratic governance, a significant milestone for the West African nation,” the Speaker said. “This occasion provides an opportunity for Ghanaians to reflect on our achievements, our challenges, and the way forward. We must all recommit ourselves to the principles of democracy, justice, and equality that have served us so well over the years.”

The 30th Anniversary celebration is expected to attract dignitaries from across the continent and beyond, with a series of events scheduled to mark the occasion. The celebrations will be a testament to Ghana’s democratic resilience and its unwavering commitment to progress, and will serve as a reminder to other African nations of the importance of good governance and political stability. Ghana has been hailed as a beacon of democracy in Africa, and the country’s continued success is a testament to the resilience of its people and the effectiveness of its institutions.
