Popular Bono Region radio personality and gospel DJ, Pastor Kaakyire affectionately known as the “Pastor of the Airwaves,” has become the first high-profile presenter to join the newly established First 94.7 FM in Berekum–Jinijini.
The station, which began its test transmission last Monday, continues to attract attention across Berekum media landscape, and the addition of Pastor Kaakyire is already seen as a major statement of intent by the new station.
Pastor Kaakyire is widely regarded as one of the most experienced and influential radio presenters in Berekum, with years of impactful broadcasting experience and a strong fan base built through gospel entertainment and inspirational radio presentation.
During his memorable days at Shalom 100.3 FM, he mentored and influenced several young presenters who are currently excelling in the media industry across the region and beyond.
His media journey later took him to Kaakyire 102.9 FM, a station established by celebrated Highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah. There, he served as a Gospel DJ before eventually becoming the host of the station’s popular mid-morning show.
Pastor Kaakyire later moved to Masters 104.3 FM at Berekum Mpatapo, owned by Mr. Obour, where he continued to strengthen his reputation as one of the region’s finest radio voices.
Now, with his move to First 94.7 FM, The station is preparing to strongly challenge established stations such as Chris 88.9 FM and Akwaaba Radio 98.1 FM for dominance in the Berekum radio space.
Sources close to me indicate that more well-known presenters are expected to join First FM in the coming weeks as management intensifies preparations ahead of full operations.
First 94.7 FM is owned by Mr. Amankona Diawuo, A renowned Radio Technician, CEO of Nakadif Media, and the station’s early moves suggest a serious ambition to become one of the leading radio brands in the Bono Region.
With the arrival of Pastor Kaakyire — the “Pastor of the Airwaves” — listeners are already anticipating exciting and competitive radio broadcasting in Berekum and its surrounding communities.
